Psychoanalysis in Everyday Life

Public education for understanding the unconscious, recognizing patterns, and developing greater freedom in how we live and relate.

Psychoanalysis is more than a form of treatment. It is also a way of understanding the mind and becoming curious about the patterns, meanings, conflicts, and expectations that shape everyday life.

Why do we repeat a relationship pattern even when we recognize it? Why can a small interaction evoke a powerful emotional response? Why might we want to change while another part of us resists? What becomes possible when we learn to listen more deeply to ourselves?

The articles collected here make psychoanalytic ideas more accessible beyond the consulting room. They explore how the unconscious appears through relationships, dreams, defenses, resistance, ambivalence, creativity, and the stories we tell about ourselves.

They also consider the limits of self-reflection. We can discover a great deal through journaling, meditation, dreams, creativity, and thoughtful inquiry, but some parts of ourselves become visible only within a sustained relationship.

What Can Recurring Dreams Reveal About Healing and Change?
